Running My Own Club!
As this school year is coming to an end, I’ve been thinking about all the highs and lows of sophomore year. One of the highest highs this year was running my own club, Reliable Technology. In this club, we talked so much about AI, ML, and delved deeper into the reliability of technology along with how radiation affects it.
I ran the club in both semesters of the year, with so many more joining in the 2nd half of the year. We started by talking about our goals for the club, then transitioning over to artificial intelligence. We continued with case studies on how radiation affects our technology and delved into case studies. Currently, we’re discussing an area that I’ve been so passionate about the more I’ve done work in it, data science. I hope to finish off the year with teaching my fellow peers important concepts that will help them with their own careers.
This club gave me so many new experiences that I’m so grateful to have. One of the things this club gave me was a group of people whom I could talk to and teach things that I am passionate about. I was able to discuss my research project and my experience in taking outside of school courses on machine learning and artificial intelligence. We’ve had so many meaningful discussions and one of the best feelings in the world is teaching someone something that you are passionate about.
Additionally, running my own club at school has given me a lot of leadership experience. From having to coordinate dates, to sending out emails, to being in charge of food, to teaching and learning beside the students, to handling auxiliary funds, this club was a huge responsibility. However, I think more than being a responsibility, it was an experience that taught me so much and is bound to help me in the future.
Next year, I aim to run my club again, this time with a more heavy focus on the data science and artificial intelligence part. I think teaching data science, or any subject matter, teaches me more things every time as well. In other words, I’ve learned from teaching, which is something I’ve really enjoyed.
I hope you guys enjoyed reading my blog. After our last club meeting, I’ll be sure to upload pictures of all the fun we’ve had in the club over the past 2 semesters onto either this blog post or a later one. Thanks so much for reading and see you in the next blog post!
